Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
and furniture movers. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November 17 in
1978. She is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel began acting at thirteen.
She was already acting in Shakespearean plays during summer theatre camps.
Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater. After
her appearance in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998) in which she
was a lead in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that follows the
trials and triumphs of the Slings and Arrows Shakespearean theater group. In
2003, she won the Gemini award. Her performance as Regina George, in Mean Girls
(2004), instantly became a top-rated actress on the list of Hollywood's most
sought-after young actresses. Following the film, she was cast as the opposite
of Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). It was a hit at the box office it
quickly became the most watched romantic drama for the younger generation of
moviegoers. McAdams and Gosling became lovers during filming and continued
dating until the middle of 2007. McAdams and Gosling soon found themselves
together and began to have a relationship. Following her roles in The Lucky
Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009),
McAdams appeared opposite Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's
blockbuster international Sherlock Holmes. McAdams played the shrewd producer
in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's romantic fiancee in
Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to the world of romantic dramas
with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams appears in Terrence Malick’s
To the Wonder (2012) alongside Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De
Palma’s action thriller Passion (2012).
